You know, Detective Vic Mackey on The Shield. OK, not really him but how about mediation of citizen complaints against police officers. Last year the City of Seattle initiated a mediation program for that precise purpose as reported in this news advisory. It is administered by the Office of Professional Accountability within the Seattle Police Department. According to this article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer the 7 month young program is off to a slow start. Even so, it’s working! Like good wine and good olive oil, it takes time to mature.
